The Dream 03:52
Love and affection in every direction I’m living the dream for some All I need is the warmth of the ocean And your arms around me And I’ll never have to go home Oh you don’t have to say a word For I can feel your heart from here Oh and how did I ever live before Without you near? And I’m never looking back To the life that I once lead Yeah I’d much rather this instead Oh how could I ever love again? You’re my lover and my best friend And I hope always until the end That you’ll be here with me Holding my hand And my heart has returned I can feel it again I’m my old self once more No longer searching, I’ve found all I’ve needed Your arms around me on the shore And there’s no need to say a thing For I know what’s in your heart Oh and we have all the time in the world And this is just the start And I’m never looking back To the life that I once lead Yeah I’d much rather this instead Oh how could I ever love again? You’re my lover and my best friend And I hope always until the end That you’ll be here with me Holding my hand

Your lover’s gone and you’re moving on Your heart knows not where to go You think you’ll try to uproot your life So you pack your bags and hit the road Oh have you found someone to make you satisfied? Oh are you so dependent upon another’s life? Oh and I’m saying goodbye as a friend Knowing that you’ll soon be back again And love will find you if you open your eyes So why don’t you open your eyes? Now your runner’s luck is wearing out You find your heart moving up your sleeve Soon to be back where it was Before arriving at this life you lead And oh have you ever felt more satisfied? Oh have you ever been happier in your life? And I love hearing about your travels, my friend Knowing that you’ll soon be back again And love will find you if you open your eyes So why don’t you open your eyes? Now I hear the troops are coming home Maybe you could get a ride with them? If money’s the issue, I can front the cash As long as you can pay it back again And oh are you done being satisfied? For I could really use you back in my life Oh and I’d love to see you again, my friend And I’m just hoping that you’ll soon be back again And love will find you if you open your eyes So why don’t you open your eyes?
3.
There is no reason There is no way That you could love me just as you do Oh I don’t know what to say There is no future Without you near Oh why do we have to grow up and die When I just want to stay here? And what is the lifespan Of an aching heart Well I guess I’ll never have to know So long as we’re not apart But if life is the sun Then mine’s still on the rise But it’d surely disappear behind the horizon Without you by my side

Happy Song 03:57
I once had a lover And I still love her But not in the way that I used to And moving on means growing And thinking you’re knowing A life that would be better for you And hearts they grow bitter And slowly they wither Until your optimism follows the runoff down the drains And you throw your arms up defeated For you just couldn’t foresee it But now it’s all before you more clear than the rain Oh but it’s all in the mind That someone’s love could make you satisfied And all the happiness you find Will be matched with its anguish in time For we can’t all be happy, we can’t all be happy, but I’m at least going to try Yeah we can’t all be happy, we can’t all be happy, but I’m at least going to try So you think that you’re stable You’re willing and able To leave your home for the world But your heart is still fragile Too hesitant to be agile Though perceptually ready for what may unfurl For you’re not quite so soured Enough to be devoured You have no choice but to resurface alive With your motives in question But you refuse to address them For you’d opt rather to face towards the heavens as you cry That it’s all in the mind That someone’s love could make you satisfied And all the happiness you find Will be matched with its anguish in time For we can’t all be happy, we can’t all be happy, but I’m at least going to try Yeah we can’t all be happy, we can’t all be happy, but I’m at least going to try

It’s been such awhile since I’ve felt this way I can feel myself lifted from my own body weight It’s as if some less desired part has gone away And I’m not missing it for I’m no longer my own prey I’ve been resurrected or so I’ve led myself to believe As I slowly feel my heart migrating back to my sleeve Oh is this happiness or can I just no longer see? For I’ve been finding myself in the clichés of philosophy And to love and to be loved is all I ever wanted from you To love and to be loved is the only thing that I now know how to do Oh is it my imagination or am I in love with an emotion? It’s such a strange sensation, but I think you’d second the notion And surely I’m not the only one who’s ever been in this place My feet are planted on the ground yet I’m floating in space Oh if you could only see the internal display You’d believe in the positive chemical affects on the brain Or am I just dreaming? Is this reality? Have I been asleep forever to just now be awakening? Is there a power shift taking place inside of me? As I await those simple words from you so patiently Just to love and to be loved is all I ever wanted from you To love and to be loved is the only thing that I now know how to do Oh is it my imagination or am I in love with an emotion? It’s such a strange sensation, but I think you’d second the notion

Someone New 02:27
Found someone new who likes you too Who believes that all your words are true Who will mend the ragged flag you flew For no she is not you For no she is not you Someone who resounds the calls you spew Who enraptures every oracle you drew Who ignites the extinguished fire that you knew For no she is not you For no she is not you Someone who collects the memories you will review Who opens the door that you’ve stepped up to And seeks your emptiness to toss askew For no she is not you For no she is not you Someone whom you’re bound to pursue Who’s laughter you shall soon accrue Someone who’s soul has come into view For no she is not you For no she is not you

Only love can cure me now No other passions can match the sound Of hearts so free when closely bound Yes, only love can cure me now I’ve been searching for a heart of gold I had one once, but to my knowledge it’s been sold I’ve sought its essence in the wrong places I’ve been told Oh, I’ll always search for my fragile heart of gold I once had a lover; a stepping stone to happiness Left to the others; an unforeseen stray from bliss But it’s all the better, for pain knows to comfort in moments like this Though I’ll always wonder just exactly why that is I’ve found I can’t cherish the things that I love I attempt to do them justice, but it’s never quite enough They’re all the chains that I had to be freed of So that I can be among the people that I love I’ve been many places, I’ve wandered across the land I’ve been greeted by many faces with fake smiles through a shake of hands And I’m glad I found a place with no need to pretend Oh I’ve found my own niche among the land And in my life, oh where is it even going? Do I need all this knowledge just to keep this little brain growing? Well, I once was a bean, but then I began to sprout And find that only love can cure me now
8.
City of Love 05:45
I heard that love is a city where most people reside in the suburbs Empty hearts with no means to ever quite make it downtown So I visited it a few times with each finding myself a little closer And I’m in the center now as if my destination has been found And yeah this life’s been a mystery; I never thought I’d be an explorer I never thought I’d discover such comfort in another human being But the city of love is made of stories for those that will listen In fact each one is a time capsule that’s been used to build the city And I’d love, to live in the city of love Yes just to live in the city of love Oh how I’d love to live in the city of love And sure people move, new tenants come and go rather often Some just for the weekend, others never to be seen again But hearts are not so distant, no not even if forgotten A fine memory enough for some just for a grin on occasion But the city of love is a place thriving in the present It’s so crowded that expired moments have been vanquished And in their place there is a hope looking into the eyes of the future As each lover gazes back after making the same wish And I’d love, to live in the city of love Yes just to live in the city of love Oh how I’d love to live in the city of love And I’d love, to live in the city of love Yes just to live in the city of love Oh how I’d love to live in the city of love

The open ocean calls your name It saw your heart, so it called again And as your nostalgia asks “will it be the same?” The open ocean still calls your name You couldn’t rid yourself of what you became A declaration for only you to claim With your vision keen, your heart aflame The open ocean calls your name You remember the waves as they went and came And to return to their backs you could not restrain For its luxury now cannot escape your brain Yes, the open ocean still calls your name So forget the mainland and its terrain For a life of salt is yours to gain And as you step to the seas, I bid my farewell refrain For the open ocean calls your name
10.
There’s a weight on my chest that I didn’t expect There’s a hope that is offered to the wind And if there’s a will, there’s a way Assuming the two can relate As a starting pistol is raised in the air For an offer to acceptance With an option of rejection A decision left only to the heart For you can only take what you need But it’s better to give than to receive And I’m giving in the only way I know how And I, am learning how to love Oh I am learning how to love Yeah I’m learning how to love again And every entrance is an exit If that’s how we choose to accept it But shouldn’t our fate always belong to us? And dreams grow and die I’ve seen them rising with the tide Only to sink to the bottom of the sea But often, they’re recovered Just as some live to be discovered An answer with the weight to change a life So as each future is written And compiled to form a collection A smile is cast to the wind Yeah I, am learning how to love Oh I am learning how to love I’m learning how to love again Yeah I, am learning how to love Oh I am learning how to love I’m learning how to love again Yeah I, am learning how to love Oh I am learning how to love I’m learning how to love again Yeah I, am learning how to love Oh I am learning how to love I’m learning how to love again

about

This album began in this instance on the shore beneath the cliffs in the sun as it was setting. The occasion was perfect and I tried my best to capture the feeling of such events here. I'd like to think of this album as an impressionist painting; most of these recordings were made in less than two hours with mixing included and the entire album took me no more than forty hours. I did this in hopes of allowing the listener to feel the temporary moments in which the recordings were made and the beauty that lies in those moments as well as the resulting short-lived instances of bliss I attempted to recreate here in song form. While many of the songs on this album were years old with alternative versions of some having already been recorded at the time I decided to add them here, I felt they were all necessary compliments to the endless possibilities of life. This album is the dream I’ve been living and I would like to share it with you.
