Life’s keeping me distracted; my leaves are still changing
And I’m still discovering what life’s supposed to be
I’m excited yet frightened about reaching adulthood
Or am I there already? Oh what does that even mean?
And my footsteps are frozen; I’m stuck in this moment
Between obligation and setting myself free
Now we must choose our steps carefully; let’s walk to the liquor store
Surely they carry a product I need

We’re just too concerned about getting it right
But we can still get it wrong and follow our dreams

So step off your podium, you’re ahead of the curve
And I couldn’t care for your ego; it means nothing to me
But if you’ve got something to contribute, my ears are wide open
You can lead the discussion if you feel the need
We’re just trying to benefit; just trying to improve
Or at least stay stagnant rather than declining
