Catalogue of Complaints

from For Old Age by Brian Smith

/

lyrics

This weather is terrible, please get me away
But this settlement’s an anchor, so I guess that I’ll stay
My complaints in a catalogue that fills up each day
But I’ve got my health and good manners, so everything’s ok
And I heard them all shouting, “if it’s not perfect, it’s broken!”
The gains were miscounted and the talking heads misspoken
There’s a change that’s a coming but they don’t know the direction
They’re too busy practicing their lies for the election

They say patients is a virtue, but I believe it can hurt you
Waiting for a kingdom that never will come
And your problems lack solutions, you prayed to wrong saint
Now hellfire and damnation are beating their drums
Slowly at first, but they’re quickly progressing
And by this time your obsessing about which rights went wrong
So you call in some favors, who’s the most powerful savior?
Who can cleanse your soul so you may dirty your tongue?
