Life Is Only Beautiful

from Farewell Home by Brian Smith

/

lyrics

Four Years of my life spent in one place
And I’m packing up everything I own
As my memories here slowly fade
Through my ventures into the unknown
And I’m sorry that this might be the last time
That I ever say hello
And though I’m glad to have had you in my life
I can’t help but notice that there’s a fork in this road

But Life is only beautiful in that it only lasts for so long
And that it ends is the greatest thing of all
So in these moments that we have we should live to dream to love
Before that moment is longing for what never was

And I can’t speak for the both of us when I say
That I really wouldn’t have changed a thing
Perhaps my memory is selective or there’s something wrong with my brain
But I never want what we’ve had to go away away away away

Because Life is only beautiful in that it only lasts for so long
And that it ends is the greatest thing of all
So in these moments that we have we should live to dream to love
Before that moment is longing for what never was

So I’ve put all I own in boxes and dropped the key back through the slot
And it never really sinks in until it’s gone
That everyone you’ve known is but a dot on a map
A geographical representation of a relationship you once had

But Life is only beautiful in that it only lasts for so long
And that it ends is the greatest thing of all
So in these moments that we have we should live to dream to love
Before that moment is longing for what never was
