The Rain

Three weeks in on a bittersweet vacation
And I’m missing you and I’m sick on my location
And of course I miss other things
Like my bike, my friends, and my family
And I probably miss my guitar
And the moon bouncing in my backyard
And the way the air smells in that town
And the people understanding the words from my mouth
And the way I feel when I kiss your lips
And place my hands upon your hips
And smiling till it hurts my face
Oh I can’t wait to return to that place
But one thing that I never knew
Never thought I’d care to return to was the rain

Yeah I never thought I’d miss the Rain
Turning dirt into mud and rusting us all the same
But it’s winter here in this hemisphere
And it’s absent from this place
And no matter my length away from that state
I never thought I’d miss the rain

So I hope you kept your fires burning bright
For I’ve been thinking about you long after I fall asleep at night
And there’s not much to do in that town
And I’m oh so glad you are around
I’m glad to have met you now
Glad you checked the yes box when I asked you out
And in one more week I’ll be back with you
It’s the only thing I want to do
But this I could anticipate
For you’re mostly what I miss in that state
But one thing that I never thought
Didn’t think I’d care if I saw again or not was the rain

Yeah I never thought I’d miss the Rain
Turning dirt into mud and rusting us all the same
But it’s winter here in this hemisphere
And it’s absent from this place
And no matter my length away from that state
I never thought I’d miss the rain

Oh I never thought I’d miss the rain…
